More About Yehudis

Overview of Experience and Practice Areas:

Yehudis has worked clinically in the mental health field, for over 10 years, with a particular interest in complex trauma, developmental trauma, dissociation, and moral injury. Her knowledge of and experience with a wide range of therapeutic modalities allows her to integrate and cater her approach to each individual’s needs. Yehudis has worked as a Registered Nurse at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) since 2014 and as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre since 2022. Her psychotherapy and art therapy clinical training included internships at SickKids Community Centre for Mental Health (CCMH), the Ottawa Centre for Resilience (OCFR) and Sheena’s Place. She has also been a clinical member of the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) team at CHEO since 2015.

 

Areas of Expertise and Notable Achievements:

Notable achievements include her contributions through her doctoral research to planning the implementation of a trauma-informed care program at the CHEO and her ongoing work at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre supporting individuals experiencing cancer and severe mental illness.

Education and Credentials:

Yehudis obtained a PhD in Nursing from the University of Ottawa (2024), is completing an Art Therapy Graduate Diploma (thesis pending) from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute (projected completion 2024-2025), holds a Master’s of Science in Nursing from the University of Ottawa (2016), and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Ottawa (2014). She is licensed to practice psychotherapy in Ontario, ensuring her qualifications meet the highest standards of professional excellence.

 

Involvement in Professional Organizations:

Yehudis currently contributes to several committees and professional workgroups, including the CHEO Mental Health Trauma-Informed Care Steering Committee, and the UHN Kushnir workgroup for improving equitable access to healthcare for those living with severe mental illness. Yehudis maintains an active involvement and membership in relevant professional organizations and associations, including, the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario, the Neurosequential Network, the International Society of Traumatic Stress Studies, and the Canadian Art Therapy Association.

Using a gentle, empathetic, and thoughtful style, Yehudis approaches each client with compassionate curiosity.  Through many years of working with children, youth, and families facing tough challenges, Yehudis has gained a deep understanding of complex mental health needs. She integrates her professional experience as well as relevant scientific evidence to implement individualized services and support for clients.
